DREWSEN SPEZIALPAPIERE has installed a quality management system that is certified in line with ISO 9001. Thus we guarantee high process quality from order acceptance to production to supplying products to our customers - and endorsed by our employees at every level.

Hygiene standards
HACCP
As a producer and supplier of packaging papers for the food industry, DREWSEN SPEZIALPAPIERE is conscious of their responsibility within the supply chain. In order to supply products which can be extensively used within food packaging market, DREWSEN SPEZIALPAPIERE has introduced a hygiene management system in accordance with the HACCP principles of Regulation (EC) No. 852/2004 for food safety standards.
Environmental policy
Many environmental aspects play an important role in paper production. For this reason protecting the environment is of great importance in all business activities undertaken by DREWSEN SPEZIALPAPIERE. All parts of the company are actively involved in protecting the environment and as such, contribute to a responsible and sustainable approach to all the resources we use.

DREWSEN consolidated its engagement for the improvement of environmental achievements in the company in an environmental report. This informs about our diverse activities for environmental protection and describes how strong the ecological thinking is located in our company.

Environmental standards
ISO 14001
Protecting the environment is given high priority at DREWSEN. Our environment management system is certified in line with ISO 14001.
FSC® (FSC® - C113347)
We also utilise FSC- or PEFC-certified pulp from sustainably managed forests. The FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council®) is an organisation with objectives that include pursuing the sustainable management of forests and provides accreditation for papers that have been created using raw materials from these managed sources.
PEFC
PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) advocates dealing with forests on a global basis in a responsible and sustainable manner. Over 200 million hectares of forests have already been certified in line with the organisation's regulations, and supply environmentally friendly raw materials for various paper and wood products.
EU - Ecolabel
The EU Ecolabel helps to identify products and services that have a reduced environmental impact compared to others throughout their life cycle, from the extraction of raw material through to production, use and disposal. Recognised throughout all 27 EU Member States, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, EU Ecolabel is a voluntary and trusted labeling program promoting environmental excellence.
It is possible to provide graphic paper qualities with the EU Ecolabel.
Nordic Swan-Eco Label for Grease-resistant Papers
PROBARRIER Nature grade has been awarded the coveted Nordic Eco Label „Nordic Swan“. The award guarantees both customers and consumers that this grease-resistant paper has fulfilled stringent environmental and climate criteria, and more importantly, certifies that the PROBARRIER Nature grade contains no fluorochemicals (so called PFAS). Fluorochemicals are difficult to break down and can accumulate in both the human body and the environment. Many of our customers hold the Nordic Swan certification in high esteem, particularly suppliers to retail chains which specify the Nordic Eco Label for food packaging materials. PROBARRIER Nature a certified grease-resistant packaging paper for direct food contact. Made with renewable raw materials, it is 100% biodegradable and fully compostable.

CO2-neutral Paper
DREWSEN SPEZIALPAPIERE has commissioned Climate Partner, a leading climate protection advisory service, to calculate a Product Carbon Footprint for its paper products. This includes both the emissions from the paper production and the emissions from the manufacturing of the raw materials and their transportation.
With a comparatively low carbon footprint, DREWSEN SPEZIALPAPIERE offers its customers a cost-effective way of making their paper purchasing environmentally neutral, and also offers "carbon neutral" paper on request. Energy policy
The responsible handling of energy has a high priority for DREWSEN and influence all aspects of the activities carried out by the mill. Although we have been able to reduce significantly the specific consumption of energy over recent years, we implemented an energy management system that operates within the parameters of ISO 50001, and included a programme of target-driven measures to reduce energy consumption in the future.

DREWSEN SPEZIALPAPIERE has installed an energy management system that is certified in line with ISO 50001, thereby underlining our commitment to responsible energy consumption. Our energy management system has been certified in May 2013.
Sustainability assessment by EcoVadis
Social responsibility and sustainability, i.e. the subject of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), have always held high priority at DREWSEN. In order to make our efforts and improvements in this area more visible to customers, DREWSEN has once again been assessed by EcoVadis. EcoVadis is an international leader in corporate sustainability rankings. Performance is assessed in four categories: environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. DREWSEN's hard work and continuous improvements in all areas were awarded with a silver medal after the evaluation in August 2023. DREWSEN is pleased to be among the top 9 % of companies worldwide rated with top results by EcoVadis and aims to continue to work hard on the further implementation of its future CSR strategy. As an example of our endeavours in the environmental category, DREWSEN is planing to invest in open-space photovoltaic plants, among other things, following its entry into wind power, in order to drive forward the supply of locally generated, renewable energy and to further reduce CO2 emissions.
